Conference about environment awareness and experiential learning in Hungary
There was a conference held in the Heves County Vocational Education Center in Lorinci, Hungary, on 23 April. The apropos of the event was the “Sustainability week” event series in Hungarian schools. The audience (about 50 people) was greeted by the head of the Center, Ms Erzsebet Oroian.
These were the items of the agenda: presentation of the ESTELLA project and its learning space https://projectestella-learningspace.eu/. It will soon be possible to search for environmental scenarios (70 scenarios in 7 themes). Two such scenarios were tested during the event. Clear water was presented by Mrs Krisztina Nagy Farkas (Saint Benedict Secondary Technical School), Water hidden in crystals was presented by Mr Ferenc Kecskes (BGSzC Buda Secondary School). The participants could see a chemical experiment, they created a word cloud about water, calculated their carbon footprint using an online app, created posters with the titles of literary and folklore works of art about water. Mr Kecskes also had a presentation on Biodiversity and climate change. He showed everyday examples of the changes live beings undergo under the influence of global warming. The audience was engaged and surprised to see and hear about these changes. Finally, the participants hiked along Anna Richter educational trail. Ms T. Kocsis guided us among the ancient trees, helped us listen to the song of birds nesting along the trail, we used QR codes to access the audio files. We also glimpsed some wild rabbits. It was a useful and entertaining day!
